Business at Gravesend BNI

The meeting started with Chapter Leader, Peter Jones, welcoming a new member to the Gravesend Chapter. PJ inducted Harry Tobin of WPA Health Insurance and said that the membership figure was now 41 and he was sure everyone would try to get new business  for Harry.

Gareth Bridgland of Perrys Chartered Accountants took the education slot and reminded members to look at the BNI traffic lights and  see some of the features needed to keep a Chapter at the top. These included Attendance, Training, and Testimonials and Gareth said it was up  to individual members of the Chapter to work at keeping these features scoring as high as possible for Gravesend.

During the 60second presentations  I was struck by the importance of a good script for subs to read. While some worked well, others did nothing to recommend the missing member.  Some scripts were too long and some too complicated. I will uncertainly check my script by reading it out loud and timing it. Nick Keily of NKCS cleaning services won the trophy this week with his limerick on BNI and Chapter members.

Nick was also the star of the show with his 10 minute presentation for North Kent Cleaning  Services. He said that the company was very much a family business and that each member of staff cared about providing a personal, high quality service. Nick told us that whilst the company predominately offered commercial cleaning services, they had recently started to offer  domestic carpet cleaning. Nick then  gave a very convincing demonstration using his “Bad Boy” cleaner  and enviro friendly solutions which did a great job on a piece of old, dirty carpet.

Referrals and testimonials were busy again with an impressive 95 referrals! There was £98,185.40p value in work passed between members. Testimonials were read out for Peter Smith of Icon Business Solutions; Russ Rogers of Ambition Driving Academy; Jas of JRM Auto Repairs; and 2 for Matthew Twitchett of Matthews Plumbing and Heating.

The meeting closed with a reminder about BNI member support training held at the Russell Hotel on Monday March 26 at 18.00 hours.

Anyone interested in  joining this busy, successful Chapter should ask any member or contact our Membership Co-ordinator, Melvyn Potter on 07793 908122.
