Gravesend BNI Christmas Meeting

Three new members joined this week. We were pleased to welcome Kasan Goh of Clay Architecture,David Meaney of DKM Consultants, and Andrew Holden of South East Access Specialists to the Gravesend Chapter. The  new members were inducted by Chapter Director, PJ (Peter Jones) at the start of our Christmas meeting saying that we look forward to doing business with them in the New Year.

The 60 second presentations were lively as ever, most with a Christmas Theme, and a couple re-writing their version of “A Night Before Christmas”. However, it was Mark Blenkarne of Apex Law who took the prize with his archery skills.

It worried some of us [and probably John Winson our health and safety man] when Mark announced that he would demonstrate his archery skills. He produced a large bow and arrow and had two ‘volunteers’ stand up each with a balloon and an apple on his head! However, suffice it to say, whilst our attention was diverted, there was a loud bang and there stood the volunteers each with an apple pierced by an arrow on his head. As with many legal procedures, the result was plain but the method was mysterious!

Referrals and testimonials were brisk and busy with 44 referrals and £14,046 worth of business passed. There were 4 testimonials read out praising the work of Steve Kennedy of Paymentsense; Mark Blenkarne of Apex Law; Damon Trott of Utility Warehouse and Steve Parkes of S&O Windows.

We had a surprise visit from Santa himself (looking very business like) who distributed the Secret Santa presents. Santa and his elves made sure everyone had a gift and the members dug in their pockets and donated £314 to the local charities:- House of Mercy and Ellenor Lions Hospice

Of course it wouldn’t be Christmas without “A  Christmas Carol” loosely based on the story by Charles Dickens and ably performed by BNI members.

We saw Tiny Tim, Bob Cratchett, Mrs Cratchett, Scrooge and the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future. All talking about BNI members!

I will leave you to gaze in wonder and awe at some of the scenes.  I hope you had a great Christmas and wish you all a Happy and Prosperous New Year

Anyone wishing to join in the fun and improve their business should speak to any member or talk to the Membership Co-ordinator, Melvyn Potter on 07793 908122.
